Interviewer: Hi, thanks for agreeing to speak with me today. Can you start by telling me a little bit about yourself and how you got into stripping?
Perth Stripper: Hi, thanks for having me. My name is Jenny and I’m a bucks party stripper in Perth. I actually got into stripping kind of by accident. I was working as a bartender at a strip club and one of the dancers didn’t show up for her shift. The manager asked if anyone wanted to fill in and I volunteered, thinking it would be a fun way to make some extra money. I ended up really enjoying it and decided to pursue it as a career.
Interviewer: What do you enjoy most about stripping?
Perth Stripper: I love the freedom and control that comes with being a stripper & the ability to set my own prices. It’s an opportunity for me to be creative and express myself in a way that I wouldn’t be able to do in a more traditional job. I also enjoy the physical aspect of it – the dancing and performing – and the rush of adrenaline I get from performing for a crowd.
Interviewer: What are some of the challenges you face as a stripper in Perth?
Perth Stripper: One of the biggest challenges is dealing with the stigma and judgment that comes with being a stripper. People often have a lot of misconceptions about what we do and who we are, and it can be tough to break through those stereotypes. Another challenge is the physical demands of the job. It can be really tough on your body, especially if you’re dancing multiple shifts a week.
Interviewer: How do you deal with those challenges and negative stereotypes?
Perth Stripper: For me, the most important thing is to remember that I’m in control of my own narrative. I try to be open and honest about my experiences as a stripper and not let other people’s judgments or misconceptions define me. I also make sure to take care of myself physically by stretching and taking breaks when I need to. Doesnt matter if I am working on a party bus or at a Go Kart range I always take breaks if I need it.
Interviewer: Can you tell me a little bit about the strip club scene in Perth?
Perth Stripper: The strip club scene in Perth is pretty diverse. There is a range of clubs, from more upscale and high-end to more laid-back and casual. The clientele is also diverse, ranging from locals to tourists to business travelers. One thing that sets the Perth strip club scene apart from other cities is the prevalence of “buck’s nights,” which are essentially bachelor parties. These can be really fun and lucrative for dancers, but they can also be a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to performing for large groups.
Interviewer: How do you handle difficult or inappropriate customers?
Perth Stripper: It’s important to have clear boundaries and to communicate those boundaries with customers. I always make it clear what I am and am not comfortable with, and I make sure to have a code word with my colleagues so that they can intervene if I ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable. It’s also important to remember that as a stripper, you have a lot of power and agency. You have the right to say no to anything that makes you uncomfortable or goes against your boundaries.
Interviewer: What advice would you have for someone considering a career in stripping?
Perth Stripper: My advice would be to do your research and be realistic about what the job entails. It’s not for everyone, and it can be physically and emotionally demanding. That being said, it can also be an incredibly empowering and rewarding career for the right person. If you’re thinking about becoming a stripper, I would recommend talking to other dancers and getting a sense of what the job is really like.
Interviewer: Thank you for your time today!
Perth Stripper: No dramas, thank you.
